Personal Career Coach
Just as a coach has guided you through your sport career, a career coach can guide you throughout your career planning and job search processes.
The USOC has partnered with Adecco, the USOC’s Official Career Management Services Supplier, to provide personal career coaches to U.S. elite athletes who wish to receive assistance with working out a career game plan or finding a job, either now or later. Whether it’s guidance on the creation of a resume, learning how to network, finding a job, or starting your own business, a personal career coach from Adecco can help. Some questions that your personal career coach from Adecco may answer are:
HOW CAN I MAKE MONEY WHILE I’M TRAINING AND COMPETING?
HOW CAN I BUILD A GOOD RESUME WHEN ALL MY EXPERIENCE IS IN SPORT?
WHAT WILL I DO WHEN I’M DONE TRAINING?
CAN I BEGIN A CAREER WHILE I AM TRAINING?
HOW DO I FIGURE OUT WHAT TYPE OF CAREER I MIGHT LIKE TO PURSUE?
WHAT ARE THE FIRST STEPS?
How do I get a personal career coach? Simply call the USOC’s Athlete Career Services Department at 800-933-4473, ext. 1. They’ll ask you a few questions and provide your information to Adecco, who will then call you to better assess your situation. The information from these two conversations will then be used to identify a personal career coach for you, and that person will contact you to begin your “career training”.
How much will a personal career coach cost me? Absolutely nothing. Because Adecco is the Official Career Management Services Supplier of the USOC, the services of a personal career coach, while quite expensive to the general public, are FREE of charge to you as an elite athlete or Olympian or Paralympian retired from sport.
Who is Adecco? Adecco is a world leader in career management and job placement assistance. An international company, the Adecco Family is made up of the following groups: Lee Hecht Harrison (career consultation), Adecco (general job placement assistance), and Ajilon (professional job placement assistance). In addition to working with the USOC, Adecco has created a relationship with the International Olympic Committee and many other National Olympic Committees around the world where they are delivering their Athlete Career Program in a variety of countries. Adecco works with thousands of people around the world and, because of their job placement services, is one of the top employers in America.
