Jennifer Schuble (Birmingham, Ala.) won three medals, including two gold, in her world championships debut as the U.S. took 12 medals overall at the 2007 IPC Cycling World Championships, Aug. 19-27 in Bordeaux, France.
Schuble won both of her gold medals on the road, winning both the Time Trial and the Road Race, and nearly came up with a third gold on the track, finishing with the silver in the Pursuit.
Kelly Crowley (Redwood City, Calif.), a two-time Paralympian in swimming, also turned in a strong performance on the road in her first Cycling World Championships, winning the Road Time Trial and earning bronze in the Road Race. David Lee (Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.) and Anthony Zahn (Riverside, Calif.) each made their first appearances at Worlds, as well, and won bronze medals in their respective Road Time Trials.
Alejandro Albor (Elk Grove, Calif.), who is certainly no stranger to international competition, added two more medals to his collection, taking silver in the Time Trial and bronze in the Road Race. Barb Buchan (Bend, Ore.) and Allison Jones (Denver, Colo.) each medaled for the second consecutive World Championships, winning silver and bronze, respectively, in the Road Time Trial.
Greta Neimanas (Colorado Springs, Colo./Chicago, Ill.) rounded out the medal count, earning bronze in the Road Time Trial. It was her first World Championships medal and the best of her three top-5 finishes, which also included a fourth-place finish in the 500m and a fifth-place finish in the Road Race.
The 12 U.S. medals is a five-medal increase over last year's Worlds in Switzerland. In addition, the U.S. added 11 other top-5 finishes, including two each from Buchan, Neimanas and Ron Williams (Birmingham, Ala.).
