U.S. Men’s National Goalball Team Takes Fourth at Beijing Test Event
Sponsored by the National Industries for the Blind (NIB), the Men's National Goalball Team concluded play Sunday competing against Lithuania for the bronze during the “Good Luck Beijing” 2007 International Goalball Tournament in China. The game opened up with Donte Mickens (Tallahassee, Fla.) penalized for a long ball early in the first half. Lithuania snuck the penalty shot by Mickens for a goal taking an early 1-0 lead. more...  

The U.S. has won the silver medal at the Lakeshore Foundation International Goalball Classic (IGC). Canada defeated the United States, 4-1, to win the gold medal. China won the bronze medal by defeating Denmark, 5-1. "Canada was just better than us today,” said U.S. head coach Ken Armbruster (Colorado Springs, Colo.).  “I give a lot of credit to [Canadian center] Amy Alsop. She had a bad game against us on Saturday and today she came in, stepped up her game and played great.” more...

The world’s top four women’s goalball teams will be converging on Lakeshore Foundation, an official U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site, in two weeks time for the inaugural International Goalball Classic (IGC). The tournament runs July 26-29, 2007 and will feature the national teams from the United States, China, Canada and Denmark. The Men's National Goalball Team, sponsored by the National Industries for the Blind, recently wrapped up a successful two-competition European tour, garnering top finishes in both events. The team first traveled to Trakai, Lithuania where they competed and earned gold in the International Goalball Tournament for the Vytaus the Great Lion's Club Cup, June 7-10. The team emerged from pool play undefeated, besting teams from Sweden (8-7), the Ukraine (9-3), Poland (6-4) and Lithuania #2 (10-5). more...
