Mike Dickey Named to U.S. Paralympics Shooting Elite Team

Lakeshore Foundation athlete Mike Dickey (Trafford, Ala.) has earned a spot on the U.S. Paralympics Shooting Elite Team. Dickey achieved this status by shooting a perfect score of 600 at the 2007 USA Shooting 3XAir Match in Colorado Springs, Colo. “I had been working on my relaxation and visualization a lot and I came in on the last day of competition and had a real good rhythm, got in a good flow and shot the 600,” said Dickey.

Staff Sgt. Josh Olson (Fort Benning, Ga.), a member of the U.S. Army's World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), emerged from a group of 61 competitors to finish eighth in the Men's R6 50m Prone Smallbore event at the 2006 IPC Shooting World Championships in Sargans, Switzerland, Saturday. After shooting his way to the qualification round, Olson shot a 584, sixth-best in the round of 18, to propel himself to the finals, where he finished with a score of 680.7.

The 2006 IPC Shooting National Championships will be held July 13-22 in Sargans, Switzerland. Approximately 260 athletes with a physical disability from nearly 45 countries will compete in men’s and women’s individual and mixed team events, consisting of 13 rifle and six pistol shooting events. U.S. Paralympics is sending a team of five athletes to the competition.
