Watch Mono Skier X Coverage LIVE on ESPN this weekend
This weekend, Paralympic athletes will compete in the only Mono Skier X event in the world at Winter X Games 12 in Aspen, Colo., and the finals will be broadcast live on ESPN, Sunday at 4:30 p.m. EST. U.S. Paralympians Kevin Bramble (Cape May Court House, N.J.), Carl Burnett (Winter Park, Colo.), Chris Devlin-Young (Campton, N.H.), Gerald Hayden (Merced, Calif.), and Tyler Walker (Franconia, N.H.) are among the field of competitors in this event. more...  

Day three of IPC World Cup competition in Abtenau, Austria featured the season's first super combined event, which features one super-G run and one run in the slalom, and saw two more U.S. skiers reach the podium. In the closest race of the day, Chris Devlin-Young (Campton, N.H.) took a commanding lead after the super-G portion of the men's mono-ski competition, only to see German star Martin Braxenthaler lay down a strong second run and finish with a combined time of 1:53.52. more...

Two U.S. skiers assumed familiar positions on the slalom podium despite rainy conditions at the 2007-08 IPC World Cup season opener Monday in Abtenau, Austria. Laurie Stephens (Wenham, Mass.) started off the season with a victory, putting together a two-run time of 1:58.34 to pace the women's mono-ski field. Some 800 disabled skiers, including military veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan learning to ski, will be competing Thursday and Friday at the annual Ski Spectacular presented by The Hartford. U.S. Disabled Ski Team coaches see the gathering as a terrific recruiting tool to keep the disabled squad among the world's best. Disabled Team athletes have been training in addition to meeting with participants in the Ski Spectacular, which has been held at Breckenridge for two decades. more...
