Personal Profile: Chace is currently attending the University of New Hampshire with the intent of entering the university’s school of exercise science. He learned about the Paralympics while playing with the New England Bruins, the team he joined in September of 2004, two years after taking a hit in a hockey game that left him with a broken back and an incomplete spinal cord injury. Two of his Bruins teammates, Joe Howard and Kip St. Germaine, were members of the gold-medal winning squad in Salt Lake City in 2002 and told him he should try out. Not only did Chace make the team, he made a significant impact in Torino, scoring the game-winning goal in the bronze medal game against Germany.
The 19-year-old says his most notable athletic achievement, before competing at the Paralympic Winter Games, was competing in the Eastern Junior Hockey League at the age of 15, a league that allows players up to the age of 21 to compete. Off the ice, Chace said he loves playing golf and staying active.
Major Achievements:
- 2006 – Bronze medal – Paralympic Winter Games
- 2005 – Named member of U.S. Paralympics Sled Hockey National Team
