SHOOTING: Hancock Wins Silver in World Cup Belgrade

For Immediate ReleaseJuly 19, 2005 BELGRADE, Serbia and Montenegro -- Sixteen-year-old Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, Ga.) won his third World Cup medal of the season, Monday, when he clinched the silver medal for the U.S. at the ISSF World Cup Belgrade. Hancock made a good run towards the end, hitting a perfect 75-straight and finishing with a 148. But, Spain’s Mario Nunez just edged Hancock, taking home the gold with a 149. Cyprus’ Antonis Nicolaides had to fight hard to win that last spot on the medal stand. Nicolaides was tied for third with Germany’s Tino Wenzel at 147 at the end of the final. Eleven shots later, Nicolaides finally emerged on top. Belgrade is Hancock’s third ISSF World Cup in his first season abroad, marking a tremendous three-for-three in medal stand appearances.
