Belbin and Agosto were both without partners in 1998 and were searching. Agosto had just recently separated from his partner. Belbin was alone for a year and had gone through 10 different tryouts with potential partners. "I cracked a corny joke and she laughed at it," said Agosto. "And I knew right away that it was going to work."
