- Williams and his wife, Ellen, who is a groomer, are the sole caretakers of all of their horses

- The New York native graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology for American Craftsmen, where he studied woodworking and furniture design at the School for American Crafts.
In 2002, John showed his professionalism and dedication in helping the U.S. team when its first world championships since 1974 despite an emotional effort in the individual competition by placing fourth, just barely out of the medal positions.
“Each horse has a personality of its own — no two horses ride the same,” Williams said. “Some horses are independent thinkers. They take a lot of finessing to convince them to do what you want them to. Other horses might go out of their way to do what you want them to do. It really varies.” DemocrateandChronicle.com
