Boxing has always been a family tradition for Allen. From his cousins, uncles and father, Allen began boxing in his home at the age of 9. Along with his twin brother Tiger, and younger brother Bear, the boys trained at home and then joined the Champs gym in Philadelphia, Pa. Allen fought with the Blue Horizon Club in Philly and the Ohio State Fair in 1991 was his first competition. His twin, Tiger, has also became an accomplished boxer, but is currently taking a break from the sport. Allen's training consists of running approximately 3-4 miles a days and then heading to the gym to work on his technique. He also incorporates plyometrics into his routine.
Advice to young athletes: "Stay dedicated. Don't just concentrate on fighting, but stay in school. Discipline is the key to life and also to have a strong will."
