Demong, Bill
- Member of the 2002 and 2006 U.S. Olympic Team
- Won his first career World Cup on Jan. 20 in the Czech Republic
- 2001 National champion in Nordic Combined and 90-meters Ski Jump
- Member of 1998 Olympic team in Nagano, Japan (finished 34th in Individual)
- Finished the 2001-2002 season strong with a seventh, fifth, then first-place finishes; all lifetime bests.
- Demong continued his improvement in the 2000-01 season by recording his first World Cup top-10 finish, completing the season ranked 16th overall in World Cup points.
- On the home front, Demong won the first two U.S. titles of his career -- in Nordic combined and 90-meter ski jump.
- Competed at age 17 in the 1998 Nagano Olympics, finishing in 34th place in Individual.
- Demong got his start on skis at age 6 and started ski jumping by 10.
- In his spare time, he enjoys skiing in the Adirondacks with his father, an environmental biologist, and fishing.
Demong's rapid improvement to claim a national title in 2001 is a result of his better cross-country conditioning. "Bill still puts a lot of pressure on himself, but as he grows, he's learning how to deal better with it," said coach Jan-Erik Aalbu. "We know he's a really good jumper, but I think he proved to a lot of people -- especially himself --that he can be with the best."
On his successful 2000-01 season: "I learned a lot last season. I've still got plenty to learn, but I know I can ski with these guys and I just have to stay at it."
