Brendan Hansen
- Three-time Olympic medalist
- Won gold in 400m medley relay (world record), silver in 100m breaststroke (Olympic record), bronze in 200m breaststroke at the 2004 Olympic Games
- Set world records in both the 100m and 200m breaststrokes at the 2004 Olympic Trials, becoming the first American to hold both records since 1974
- 2005 World champion in the 100m, 200m breaststroke and 400m IM
- Swept all three breaststroke events (50m, 100m, 200m) at the 2004 World Short Course Championships and swam the breaststroke leg in the winning 400m medley relay team
- Won the World title in the 200m breaststroke (2001) and 400m medley relay (2003)
- Missed making the 2000 Olympic Team, finishing third in 100m and 200m breaststroke at Olympic Trials
- Four-time NCAA champion in 100m, 200m breaststroke
- Attends University of Texas (class of 2004) majoring in kinesiology and communications
- Known for his motivational speeches to his UT teammates
- Upon breaking Mike Barrowman's 200y breaststroke mark at the 2001 NCAAs - "I'm still in shock," Hansen said. "He was an idol of mine growing up. To break his record has been a goal of mine."
- Led University of Texas to the 2001 and 2002 NCAA Championship by winning both breaststroke events in each of his first two seasons

Hansen has been swimming for the major part of his life earning a spot on the Junior Nationals team at the age of 12. "I’m still learning something new every day. There’s no such thing as the perfect race. There’s always something to improve. I’ve been solid the last few years, but I don’t think I’ve had that one great meet yet. I’m still getting better. It can all come together during that one given race."
On swimming at the Olympics: "It’s so sweet to represent the United States. I can’t begin to talk about the adrenaline this brings. I’m definitely riding a wave. But I have to look at this like any other meet. Afterward, I’ll look back and take everything in."
