- First snowboarder to do back-to-back inverted 1080s in 2002
- In 2001, won the overall men's U.S. Grand Prix halfpipe title and the Winter X Games superpipe title
- Competes mostly in ISF events vs. the Olympic-sanctioned FIS tour because "the ISF events are a higher scale (with) more European riders."
- Started competing in 1996 with the Green Mountain Series in Vermont
- His older brother, Matt, taught Danny to ride snowboards and also invented one of his signature moves - the Kasserole - which is an inverted rodeo 720
- Nickname is "Big Dan" and enjoys deep fried foods, skateboarding, hanging out with friends and drawing, which appears on his board
- Listens to his own mixed cds containing a variety of music, such as the Dead Milkman and Britney Spears, to pump himself up before dropping in at a competition
- Considered pursuing a skateboarding career when he was younger, until his family moved to New Jersey
- Owns a snowboarding company named Grenade Gloves that sells snowboarding apparel
Kass is known for mixing technical tricks with big air and big stomp landings. His signature move, the Kasserole, is often described as a human kick-flip. While Kass gets serious air during his runs, he still considers fellow Olympian Ross Powers to be the "loftiest" man on the tour.
