  • Skated to the men's Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Sarajevo Games; skated to a fifth-place finish at the 1980 Lake Placid Games
  • Won four consecutive World titles from 1981-1984
  • Won four consecutive U.S. titles from 1981-1984; captured six medals overall at the U.S. Nationals. Won the 1976 U.S. Junior men's title
Did You Know?
  • Inducted into the World and U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fames in 1990
  • Growth was stunted at age 5 by an undiagnosed illness that affected his ability to absorb nutrients from food. Hamilton's illness disappeared at about age 9 - the same time he began skating with his sister at a local Bowling Green rink
  • Hamilton is the adopted son of Bowling Green University professors Ernie and Dorothy Hamilton. He has an older sister and a younger brother
  • Carried the flag for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team at the Opening Ceremonies in Lake Placid
  • After stints with Ice Capades and appearances at several professional skating competitions, Hamilton launched in 1986 what would become the Stars on Ice tour
  • Provides figure skating commentary for CBS Sports
  • Diagnosed with testicular cancer in March 1997. Hamilton underwent two months of chemotherapy and underwent surgery in June 1997 at which time doctors determined the cancer was gone

Scott lives in Englewood, Colo., where he helps run the Friends of Scott Hamilton Foundation, benefiting youth-oriented causes throughout the United States. He contributes to many other charitable organizatoins and continues to make appearances around the figure skating world.
