It's Every Day

Prior to the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, Gaines worked with her sponsor at the time to set up a nation-wide writing contest for 13- and 14-year-old students. The students were instructed to write about what they thought it took to be an Olympian. The four winners, two boys and two girls, received a trip to the Olympic Games.

Quote

"My greatest accomplishment was winning Olympic gold here in Atlanta, Ga. in 1996. Winning in front fo the home crowd was an awesome feeling and a dream come true," Gaines said.
