Michael Johnson
- Won five gold medals during three Olympic Games (1992, '96, 2000)
- The first man to win both the 200m and 400m in the same Olympics (1996)
- Holds world records in the 200m (19.32 s), 400m (43.18 s) and as a member of the 4x400 relay team (2:54.20)
- Nine-time World Champion
- The only sprinter ever to be ranked No. 1 in the world in the 200 and 400 meters in the same year, which he achieved four times (1990, 1991, 1994 and 1995)
- Is the only sprinter to ever break 20 seconds for the 200 and 44 seconds for the 400
- Voted into the United States Track & Field Hall of Fame in 2004
- Came down with food poisoning days before the 1992 Olympic Games, but still won a gold medal with 4x400 relay team
- Attended Baylor University from 1987 through 1990 and still holds or is part of school records in six events
- Lives with his wife, Kerry, and their 4-year old son, Sebastian
- Since retiring in 2001, has started own sports consulting company, provides television commentary and writes a regular newspaper column

- Ran in gold shoes made by Nike of an expensive material called Zytel; the soles weighed just 30g
