Candace Parker
- 2008 U.S. Olympic Team hopeful in basketball
- Member of 2006 World Championship bronze medal team; set USA record for blocked shots in a World Championship with 14 in nine games
- The only two-time USA TODAY National Player of the Year (2003, 2004)
- Named SEC Rookie of the Year in 2006 with U. Tennessee
- Member of 2004 Junior World Championship Qualifying Tournament gold medal team
- Won the 2004 Powerade Jam Fest, becoming the first woman to ever win a slam dunk contest; she defeated five men, including J.R. Smith and Rudy Gay
- Started all 36 games as a redshirt freshman at the University of Tennessee; she led the team in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg)
- Will graduate from U. Tennessee in 2008; she is pursuing a major in sport management
- Older brother Anthony played on the 1996 USA 22-and-Under World Championship Qualifying Team that also won a gold medal
- Made High Honor Roll every semester at Naperville Central High School, from which she graduated in '04
- Missed the 2004-'05 season while recovering from a pair of knee surgeries

- Aspires to become a television broadcaster/announcer and lists Oprah Winfrey and ABC's Robin Roberts as celebrities she admires
- Naismith and Gatorade National Prep Player of the Year ('03 - '04) and two-time USA Today National High School Player of the year ('03 - '04)
Candace has been involved with several community service organizations already. These include D.A.R.E., Loaves & Fishes and the Ronald McDonald House.
Candace Parker, on whether she feels she played well enough to secure a spot on the U.S. team and on her World Championship team experience: I hope so.
