Mastroeni on family: “In my past experiences with the World Cup, family played a big role. If you’re happy off the field, it translates into good, positive play on the field. My dad always said to dream big. I remember walking out on the field before the [2002 World Cup opening] Portugal game, and my mother and father holding up a huge sign that said “Dare to dream, we love you Pablo.” Now it’s a new generation with my son being born and I hope to carry on some of the tradition with him.” -- www.ussoccer.com
On the 2006 World Cup: "Physically, I've never been in better shape in my life. "I've accepted my role in this world and whether I start for the team or not." -- The Arizona Republic
