Manuel Guerra, Jr.
- Gold medalist at 2002 Paralympic Winter games where he was an All-Star First Team selection and part of the team that received the U.S. Olympic Spirit Award
- Member of the sixth place Paralympic team in 1998
- Two-time silver medalist at IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in 1993 and 2004
- Bronze medalist at IPC Swedish Winter Games where he was an All-World goaltender
- Bronze medalist at IPC Canadian Winter Games in Ottawa where he was an All-World goaltender
- Contracted polio as an infant, leaving him disabled in his left leg
- Nickname is "Manny"
- Has been a member of every national sled hockey team since 1990
- Introduced to the sport in 1989 while attending a reab clinic in Minneapolis, Minn., where he saw a video demo
- Came from a hockey background since he played goalie for his high school team and wore a simple knee brace to counter the effects of his instability
- Received a full athletic scholarship in swimming to the University of Illinois, but attended the Mexico Institute of Computer Sciences in Guadalajara to stay close to his parents
- Married and has four children
- Volunteers as a hockey coach with the United Way (since 1995)
- Participates in youth clinics for wheelchair sports such as tennis, basketball and sled hockey
- Motivational speaker at hospitals and schools
