A true winter athlete, Lund has competed in many different winter sports. Growing up on the slopes where his parents worked, Lund became very apt in his skiing ability but his skiing career was cut short due to a bad back. With the help of his father, he switched over to his first sliding sport where he was dubbed the speed demon. Still wanting to push the limits on speed, Lund again switched sports. This time it was to the head first sliding sport of skeleton that reached speeds close to 90 mph. He found his niche sliding into medal finishes since the final World Cup event in 2005. "Zach seems to be stuck in the bronze medal groove now and another great result for him," said U.S. Coach Tim Nardiello after the World Cup in Austria to U.S. Skeleton. "He continues to improve each race as well."
