Sacrificing her life in Remsen, N.Y., to train at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., Hamlin moved 90 miles away from home when she was in high school. However, Hamlin continued to attend Remsen High School, submitting her homework by e-mail or fax. Graduating in the spring of 2005, Hamlin now focuses all her attention on her sport and preparing for the Olympics.
On scoring a trip to the 2006 Olympics with only competing on the senior level this year: I am overwhelmed," Hamlin said to Times Union. "It's amazing. I'm really young and I never expected to be here right now, so it's unbelievable."
