- Became first goaltender in NHL history to be chosen as a #1 overall draft pick (2000)
- Holds the NCAA record for most saves in a single game, as the Boston University goalie stopped 77 of 80 St. Lawrence shots.
- Named "Most Outstanding Goaltender" in his first World Juniors Championships appearance in 1999 and was named to the All-Tournament team.

On his chances of making the 2006 U.S.A. men’s team and being the starting goalie. “The ultimate goal here is to win the gold medal. It’s not to be selfish and hope that you are the starting goalie. Everyone wants to be the starting goalie, but they aren’t going to name it until the Games start. So, whoever is playing well is going to get the job. Hopefully, we can compete and do well.”
