- 2004 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor champion in the 400 meters, 4x400 meter relay
- Wariner won the 2005 World Outdoor 400m in 43.93 seconds, joining fellow Americans Lee Evans, Michael Johnson, Harry "Butch" Reynolds, Larry James, Quincy Watts, Danny Everett and Steve Lewis as the only athletes in history to break the 44-second barrier

- Didn’t run track until his sophomore year in high school
- Two-time Texas state high school champion (200, 400 meters)
- Lettered in football at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas
Wariner’s coach Clyde Hart compares Wariner's abilities and mentality to another Olympic gold medalist. “He loves running, he loves practice,” Clyde Hart said. “I thought Michael (Johnson) was going to be only one I had to possess all those qualities, but Jeremy has all of it too.”
On life after winning two gold medals: “I get noticed a lot more at track meets and maybe at the mall I'll be recognized a lot more. But I'm still the same. I work as hard as I can in practice, I'm going to class, nothing has really changed.”
