It's Every Day

Lott-Hogan just missed being on the 2000 Olympic Team when she finished fourth at that year’s Trials, and the experience made her especially determined to succeed in 2004. As she told The Sacramento Bee, “I didn’t want to disappoint my family again.” The more than a dozen family members on hand at Trials in July 2004 were anything but disappointed when Lott-Hogan won several decathlon events outright and finished a strong second overall. The athlete dedicated her performance to her late brother Damon, who had died in a plane crash just six weeks before the event.

Quote

Lott-Hogan on areas of concentration between Trials and the Olympic Games: “I’m going to focus on the 800 and my jumps. The jumps are where the Europeans are doing really well. I need to get my mind ready for the 800 because it’s a mind game.”
