- Three-time Division II national champion in the hammer at Ashland University
- A 13-time collegiate All-American
- Attended Mentor High School in Ohio

- Former Olympic thrower Judd Logan coaches her
Jeschelnig’s 12-month plan leading to the Olympic Trials started last July and consisted of workouts five times a week for four or five hours a day. There were no breaks during December and January, and she was forced to practice outside at Ohio’s Ashland University because the school’s practice facility could not accommodate the distance of the hammer throw. "Through all the snow, all the blizzards, it was tough," There were days when my toes were numb. That was the hardest part, dealing with the mental strain. There were days when you just wanted to quit. But I've been committed to be positive. You can't take your eyes off the goals for two minutes.”
