- The 2004 Olympic Trials champion in the javelin
- 7-time U.S. champion (’00, ’01, ’02, ’03, ‘04, '05, '06, '07)
- Ranked 9th global best of all time
- In 2007 smashed his own 2004 record
- 4th at 2001 World Outdoor Championships
- Had surgery on his shoulder following the 2002 U.S. Championships
- His 4th place finish at the 2001 World Championships was the best by an American since Tom Petranoff’s silver medal in 1983 and 4th place finish in 1987
- Made the Olympic final at the 2000 Games in Sydney where he placed 12th
- By competing in the 2000 Games in Sydney, Greer joined pole vaulter John Pennel (1964-68) as the only Northeast Louisiana stars to compete in Olympic track and field
- Competed in the 1998-’99 season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow
