Brown, Stephanie
- Qualified for the 2004 Olympic Team by finishing 2nd at the Olympic Trials discus competition
- A six-time All-American in indoor and outdoor track and field at Cal Poly
- Holds school records at Cal Poly in the discus at 189-6 and shot put at 56-0.
- Her throw of 61.9 meters (a little more than 203 feet) on her first attempt at the Olympic Trials exceeded her previous personal best by about 9 feet
- She did a cartwheel on the infield after qualifying for the Olympic Team at the Trials
- Attended Arroyo Grande High School in California
- She was the No. 2 discus thrower nationally during her senior year of high school with the sixth-best national record of 181 feet
- Her father, Steve Brown, is a bus driver and dispatcher for a local bus company in Oceano, Calif.
"Ever since I was four years old and I watched Mary Lou Retton in the 1984 Olympics and my dad bought me a Mary Lou Retton leotard, I've wanted to be an Olympian," Brown said following the Olympic Trials
