A native of Santa Monica, Calif., Rousey splits her time between home and the Boston area, where she trains with fellow Olympic teammates Alex Ottiano and 1999 world judo champion Jimmy Pedro, Jr. The trio is coached by Pedro’s father, Jim Sr. However, in a lot of ways the high school junior’s life is not that different from other teens. Her mother still gets on her about doing homework—she takes classes through online correspondence—and when she’s at home she has to share a room with her little sister.
