Although Taurasi’s family is from Argentina, Diana was born in Southern California. Fluent in Spanish, Taurasi served as the 2001 USA Junior National Team’s unofficial spokesperson when shopping or hanging out in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
On winning an Olympic gold medal versus national championships: “I wouldn't even compare them. They're not even on the same scale. They're two totally different things. At school you spend four years with those people and that means a lot. But here you're representing your country and playing against the world. They're both equally important."
