- 2004 Olympic gold medalist
- Ranked seventh all-time in scoring at basketball powerhouse University of Connecticut with 1,583 career points
- Selected as the No. 2 pick in the 2002 WNBA draft by the Detroit Shock
- Averaged .800 free throw percentage, 4.4 rebounds per game, 6.3 points per game at the 2004 Olympics
- Helped the United States to a 13-0 record and was the fifth best scorer overall, averaging 9.6 point per game and adding 5.5 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game in her first stint in a USA basketball uniform on the 2004 national team (pre-Olympics)
- Led the Shock in scoring during their 2003 WNBA Championship season and played in the All-Star Game
- Full name is Swintayla Marie Cash, which means “astounding woman”
- Attributes a great deal of the success she has attained to the support she has received from her mom and considers her a “best friend”
- Ran track senior year in high school and finished third in state (Pennsylvania) in hurdles
- Enjoys gospel music and listens to it before games
- Started a summer basketball camp called the “Strive with Pride Basketball Camp”
- Sponsors a $1,000 Scholarship in her hometown of McKeesport, PA, for a young woman who excels in basketball and makes a difference in people’s lives
- Big supporter of charity, Swin is part of the WNBA’s “Mind. Body. Spirit.” Program, where she has done several speaking engagements on behalf of the March of Dimes, Boys & Girls Clubs and has also taped a Public Service Announcement
- Is proud to be a “Virgo”
- Has started her own company, Swin Cash LLC, where she is available for motivational speaking engagements, basketball clinics and soon hopes to start Cash Home Improvement
Swin has a large family, including 12 aunts and uncles (her grandparents had six boys and six girls—or the Brady Bunch times two). At their last family reunion in 1993, there were 75 grandchildren present.
