Spent part of his childhood in Fair Haven, N.J., where he and Pete Spaulding were members of the Surf Riders Swim Team. Tim moved to San Diego at age 10, but went back east for college at Boston University where he became reacquainted with Spaulding, who attended rival Boston College. The two teamed up in 2000 to chase Olympic gold.
On winning the U.S. Olympic Trials, Wadlow told ESPN.com, “It's pretty awesome since this has been our goal for the last three years. I think Pete and I always expected to win this regatta. We were ranked first, and we really believed in ourselves. Now we want to win a gold medal, and I think we have the skill to do it."
