It's Every Day

Hall was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1990 during his senior year at Brown University. After surgery, he finished his degrees in mathematics and French literature, graduated with honors, and won the Laser North American Championship – all in 1991. Although the cancer reappeared and resulted in two more surgeries in December 1992 and January 1993, he returned to competition in 1995. That year, he beat 43 sailors to win the Laser event at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club Olympic Classes Regatta and followed that by winning the Laser North American Championships in a fleet of 89 boats.

“My biggest advice would be to not confuse putting your sail up and then taking it down a few hours later with training.”
