Martirosyan, Vanes
- Made the 2004 U.S. Olympic team despite being ranked 14th in his weight class at the start of the year

At age seven, Vanes’s father, took him to the gym where he saw boxing for the first time. From then on, he was hooked. “I love everything about boxing,” Vanes says. His first coach was Armenian David Torosyan, bronze medallist for the USSR in 1976.
“My father has been my biggest influence because he proved to me that no matter what you do, if you do your best, you will always be a winner. Thanks to him, I made it to where I am today.” Vanes is devoted to training—he’s been to known to train non-stop, more than three hours a day.
