Hildebrand, Sara
- 2000 Olympian
- U.S. Diving’s 2003 Athlete of the Year
- Multiple individual national champion (3-meter) and synchronized diving national champion
- Eleven-time NCAA All-American
- National team member since 1997.
- 2003 Speedo National Diving Championships Women’s All-Around Award recipient.
- Finished 13th in the 2000 Olympics platform competition.
- 2000 and 2002 Indiana Univ. Female Athlete of the Year.
- Switched from gymnastics to the pool permanently in 1994 because of a fracture in her lower back, when doctors warned she would be in a wheelchair by age 30 if she continued tumbling.
- Listens to music and separates herself from all the commotion between dives during competition.
- Fights a daily battle with dyslexia.
- Received Special Education degree at Indiana Univ. and aspires to be a special education teacher working with deaf children.
- Married Butch, a former Indiana Univ. wrestler and current Marine on Aug. 17, 2002 (her maiden last name is Reiling).
- Enjoys scuba diving and spending time outside with her husband and two dogs, Coal and Sebastian.
- Started diving lessons at age 13.

Hildebrand has a busy schedule, traveling the world to compete in exotic places such as the Dominican Republic, Spain, South Korea, Mexico, and Italy. But for her it is just another opportunity to improve. "Any meet you're looking to get more experience. You get better at learning to handle things."
On winning U.S. Diving’s 2003 Athlete of the Year award: “I feel honored to receive this award...I am pleased people are noticing that I am out there and trying really hard to do what I can to bring the U.S. back its glory.”
