- Capel’s winning 19.85 sec. time in the 200-meter at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials is #2 in U.S. history behind Michael Johnson’s record 19.71.

- Finished disappointing eighth in 200-meter final in at 2000 Olympics (20.49) after faltering out of the blocks.
- Was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2001 NFL Draft, but was later released.

Sprint racing is as much mental preparation as physical preparation. “Some people try to psych each other out by talking and all that kind of other stuff. When I get on the track you know I am there. That’s just how it is. I don’t have to talk. I don’t have to run my mouth. And when it’s time to run, you have to tighten up your shoes, because I’m coming to get you. And that’s it.”
On getting nervous before big races: “Right now the only thing I do when I get real nervous is just pray. Praying is the answer. As long as I am praying, I am not nervous. Not at all.”
