Parilla, Jennifer
- Two-time Olympian, finishing ninth in 2000, 2004
- First American to compete in the trampoline event, which debuted at the 2000 Olympics
- Five-time National trampoline champion (1998, 2000-2004); four-time National synchronized trampoline champion (1993-1996)
- Finished in the top-10 in 16 out of 26 international events in her career and dominates the national events not finishing first in only five events
- Won the 2004 Grenzland Cup
- Fell in love with the trampoline at age 5 – “We had a miniature trampoline in my house that I would put in front of the couch. I’d run down the hallway, hit the mini-tramp and flip onto my couch”
- Packs her legs in ice four times a day because it’s good for the muscles
- Favorite movie is Rudy, favorite TV channel is E!, favorite subject in school is psychology
- Her role model is gymnast Karl Heger – “because he has the heart of a champion”
- Enjoys snowboarding, kickboxing, dancing, cooking, listening to techno music, traveling and scrapbooking in her free time “I also like swimming and hanging out with my puppy. Most of these help for recovery and quiet time after hard trainings.”
- Wants to “give the stunt business a try” after retiring from trampoline and finishing college
Parilla has been doing this sport since she was five years old. “There's never been any money or anything else, just a complete love of the sport. I ended up being the perfect age out of high school to go right into the (2000) Olympics.”
On how to cope with the pressure of competition: “I pretend I'm doing a show and not competing. I pretend there are no judges and I'm just putting on a show. If I still feel any pressure, then I just tell myself ‘hey I love this sport.’”
