It's Every Day

Originally a heptathlete, Dragila tried pole vaulting for the first time at age 23. “The first couple trillion times trying to go over the bar were pretty frightening for me.” By improving one inch at a time, she raised the bar little by little, from only six feet in the beginning to her current world record over 15 feet. "It's really important to sit down and break down your goals," said Dragila. "Whatever your passion is in life, you set your goals and you stick to it." Dragila trains as much as five hours per day to accomplish her goals. A typical day at the track includes a 10-15 minute jog, stretching and drills, pole vaulting for two hours, interval training, weight lifting, and some gymnastics training in the evening. At competitions, Dragilia turns any jitters into motivation:
