Turner, Cathy
- Two-time Olympic gold medallist in short track speed skating (500-meters)
- Earned four medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) during her Olympic career
- Three-time Olympian (1992, '94, '98)
- Returned to speed skating after a nine-year hiatus to pursue a professional singing career
- Retired after 1992 Games but returned to short track speed skating just seven months before the 1994 Games
- Came out of retirement again to compete at the 1998 Games
- Starred in the Ice Capades' "Made in America" Tour in 1992
- Had lead role in motion picture, "High Stakes"
- Wrote a chapter for the book, "Awaken the Olympian Within."
- Earned bachelor's degree in computer systems from Northern Michigan University
- Has served as speed skating commentator for ESPN
Cathy does a great deal of motivational speaking and television work. In fact, she appeared in an infomerical for Fitness Quest with football great Joe Montana.
On winning her first gold medal:
"From the top of the awards platform, the view was everything I had imagined when I was the little girl standing on my parents' overstuffed chair. At that moment, I had become my own vision. We can make it happen."
