Did You Know?
  • Led the Edmonton Oilers in scoring (25-65--90) during the 2000-01 season, scoring 20-plus goals for the sixth time in his career and recording 50-plus assists for the fifth time
  • Traded to St. Louis Blues during the summer of 2001 by Edmonton Oilers
  • Became the sixth player in Oilers history to score 500-plus points on Oct. 30, 2000. He also reached another milestone, playing in his 700th game on March 28, 2001
  • Spearheaded the Aaron Moser Spinal Cord Injury Foundation while playing in Edmonton. Moser, a junior hockey player in British Columbia, became paralyzed below the shoulders when he hit the boards head-on during a hockey match in 1998
  • New York Rangers selected Weight 34th overall in the 1990 NHL Draft. Before that, Weight played collegiate hockey at Lake Superior State
  • Coached by his father, Doug Weight, Sr., for 11 years as a youth. "He used to stickhandle a ping-pong ball around the house all the time. He had total motivation in the early years," said his father.

Weight plays on the same line as fellow U.S. Olympians, Keith Tkachuk and Scott Young, for the St. Louis Blues. Their sense for each other on the ice will likely mean they will play the same line for Team USA in Salt Lake. Tkachuk calls Weight the best passer in the NHL.
