- Three-time Olympic gold medalist (1996, 2000, 2004)
- Won two additional gold medals and a bronze medal during international play on Team USA
- Member of 1995-96 USA Women's Basketball National team that went 60-0, and was named the 1996 USOC and USA Basketball Team of the Year
- First player selected in inaugural WNBA draft and was the first WNBA player to get a triple double
- Led the 2004 Olympic team in three-point percentage (.429), second in steals (19) and third in free throw percentage (.857), assists (13) and points per game (9.1)
- Invited to join President George W. Bush for the Opening Ceremonies to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games
- Four-time WNBA champion with Houston Comets (1997-2000); two-time WNBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year (2000, 2002)
- First woman to have her own Nike basketball shoe (Air Swoopes)
- Leading vote-getter in the WNBA All-Star balloting four times (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003); four-time All-WNBA first team (1998-2002)
- Sat out the 2001 WNBA season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament as well as her lateral meniscus in her left knee in April 2001
- Named MVP of the 1993 NCAA Final Four after leading Texas Tech to the national championship and setting a NCAA record for points scored in the title game with 47 points in Raiders' 84-82 win over Ohio State
- Would like to pursue sports broadcasting after her playing career is over
- First basketball memory is “going to the nationals with the Little Dribblers team when I was eight years old”
- Gave birth to her son, Jordan Eric Jackson, on June 25, 1997
- Enjoys volleyball, shooting pool and playing video games in her spare time
- Inspired by her mother, Louise, who single-handedly raised four children
On her third Olympic gold medal: “This third one (gold medal) feels extremely good. I don't think there’s many people out there who can say they won three gold medals at three Olympics in any sport. To be able to share this with all of my teammates, especially Dawn (Staley) and Lisa (Leslie) because we have been here before, make this one a little more special.”
