Ochowicz, Elli
- Member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic team in long track
- Qualified for the 2002 U.S. Olympic Team in 500-meters
- Started skating in 1988 at the encouragement of her parents who were athletes themselves. Her father, Jim, was a two-time Olympic cyclist and her mother, Sheila (Young), was a three-time Olympic speed skating medallist.
- Finished 4th overall at 2000 U.S. Sprint Championships
- Bronze medallist in 1000-meter at 2001 World Junior Speed skating Championships
- Silver medallist in 500-meter at 2000 World Junior Speed skating Championships
- Ochowicz played soccer at Pius X High School in Milwaukee.
- In her spare time, she enjoys acting and soccer.
- Interested in pursuing a degree in the performing arts.
- Some of her favorites: favorite book is the biography "It is Not About the Bike" by Lance Armstrong…favorite food is Italian…favorite movie is "Dazed and Confused."
Considers her parents to be the strongest influence on her skating career because "they have always encouraged me to set goals for myself and to go after those goals." Her mother should know as she won three medals in speed skating at the 1976 Winter Games (gold in 500m, silver in 1,500m, and bronze in 1,000m). Her father also knows what it takes to be at the top of your sport. He is a world-renowned cycling coach, having coached cycling greats Greg LeMond and Lance Armstrong.
About her bronze medal finish at the 2001 World Junior Championships:
"I didn't think I was going to place, so I'm pretty happy. It's been a rough season but I finally feel like I'm on the right track."
