Vonn was married Sept. 29 to fellow Olympian Thomas Vonn (2002) at Utah's Deer Valley Resort and will now race as Lindsey Vonn. A Grade 1 sprain in her right ACL during slalom training at the 2007 World Championships shortened Vonn's season, and her battle to contend for the World Cup overall, DH and super G titles. She missed the last month of the season and still finished sixth overall (third in DH and SG), her third straight season in the World Cup top six overall. Aggressive rehab (but no surgery on the right knee) and a scope on her left knee to remove loose cartilage had Vonn back on the snow with the annual New Zealand in August. She then stormed into the season winning four downhills to tie childhood idol Picabo Street and Daron Rahlves for the most World Cup downhill wins by an American, locked up the World Cup DH title and racked up podium finishes in both super G and super combined as well.

On her first World Cup win in the 2004-2005 season: “The only surprise I think was Lake Louise, the first race that I won. I know I was skiing fast, but it was an eye-opening experience because I didn’t realize that it was going to come so quickly. It was a really nice experience.”
