Getting Started in Water Polo

Getting Started in Water Polo Many water polo players get started by playing for a local club or high school team. Summer league swim teams also sometimes hold clinics or tournaments for kids.
Find a club in your area or contact the National Federation of State High School Associations for more information on school teams.
Joining U.S. Water Polo You can find membership applications for athletes, officials and clubs on the USA Water Polo Web site. As a USWP member, you are eligible for tournaments and clinics, accident and liability insurance, insurance for teams (which enables clubs to rent and/or use institutional or community facilities) and competition schedules and certified game officials through local USWP associations.
Major Events National Championships are held for men and women in Senior and Junior (20 and under) divisions. Nationals are also held for boys in age divisions by birth year, ranging from 12/13 and under to 16/17 and under. Nationals for girls 18 and under and 16 and under are planned for the near future. World Championships are held for men and women in Senior and Junior divisions, every year except for Summer Olympic years.
