On behalf of the U.S. Olympic family, we extend our congratulations to London 2012 on its selection as the host for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Having welcomed the world for the Games in 1908 and 1948, London has a long and successful Olympic tradition. The U.S. Olympic Committee and America's athletes look forward to competing in the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London.

We would also like to congratulate the entire field of cities that participated in what has clearly been the most competitive race in history to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The fact that five world-class cities - London, Madrid, Moscow, New York City and Paris - advanced to the final round of this highly competitive process is a powerful indication of the strength, vitality and importance of the Olympic Movement worldwide.

We are extremely proud and appreciative of the efforts of Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff, who worked tirelessly to bring the Games back to U.S. soil. In addition, we would like to thank New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Representative Charles Rangel, Presidential Liaison Roland Betts, Dr. Henry Kissinger and every member of the NYC2012 delegation in attendance for the vote. Through the commitment of the more than 2000 athletes in the NYC2012 Circle of Olympians and Paralympians, the thousands of volunteers who believed in the vision of a New York Games, and the enthusiastic support of New Yorkers everywhere, the bid continued to gain momentum. Corporate backers and private donors also deserve our thanks for their significant support, which was critical to the bid. Finally, we want to thank our Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls and National Governing Bodies for their support of this outstanding bid.
