By Julia Cantone // usolympicteam.com // April 15, 2004
Getting Started in Shooting The major youth development programs of USA Shooting are the Boy Scouts, 4-H clubs and the American Legion. In these organizations, aspiring shooters can learn the fundamentals of shooting and receive safety instruction from qualified instructors. The USA Shooting Web site allows you to search for clubs by state, or for a list of clubs in your area. Email Martin Edmondson for more information.
The winners of state Junior Olympic matches who shoot a qualifying score are invited to compete in USA Shooting's National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships held once a year at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The top finishers become members of the national development team and have the opportunity to compete at the national and international level.
Joining USA Shooting Members of USA Shooting can compete in USA Shooting sanctioned events and receive a newsletter and discounts on USA Shooting merchandise. You can download an application on the USA Shooting Web site.
