Pan Am - USA Field Hockey Women to Face Chile in Pan Am Semifinal

The USA Field Hockey women’s team will meet a familiar foe in Saturday’s Pan Am Games semifinal match-up when the USA takes on Chile at 5 p.m. (Rio time) Saturday at the Centro de Hocquei Sobre Grama.
In the other semifinal, Argentina will take on Netherlands Antilles in the other semifinal match.
The game against Chile reunites two former college teammates in the USA’s Lauren Powley and Chile’s Paula Infante. Infante is a two-time Honda Award winner as top collegiate player and teamed with the USA’s Powley in leading the Univ. of Maryland to the 2005 NCAA I Championships.
The USA defeated Chile 6-1 in the 2003 Pan Am Games semifinals and most recently earned a 5-0 victory over Chile in winning the Chile 4 Nation Tournament earlier this year.
Chile earned Pool A’s No. 2 seed following a 2-1 loss to Argentina in its final game of pool play.
