USA Field Hockey Men Lose to China at Four Nation Tournament

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Pat Harris (Moorpark, Calif.) scored the USA's lone goal as the USA Field Hockey men's national team lost to host China 8-1 on the second day of play at the China Four Nation Tournament in Lanzhou City.
With the loss, the USA falls to 0-2 at the tournament while China raised its record to 1-0-1 to sit atop the tournament standings. In the tournament's other game, Egypt (0-0-2) played to a 1-1 draw with Japan (1-0-1).
Harris's second-half goal was his second tally of the tournament and raised his international goal total to 30 in 41 career international matches.
Following a day off, the USA concludes round-robin play on Saturday against Egypt. The tournament classification games are scheduled for Sunday.
The tournament marks the final international competition for the U.S. men prior to the Pan American Games, July 15-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The winner of the Pan Am Games earns the continent's automatic berth in the 2008 Olympic Games.
