USA Field Hockey U16, U19 Olympic Development Select - Futures Elite Women to Compete in The Netherlands, Argentina

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Young athletes from USA Field Hockey’s premier developmental programs will get a taste of international competition when selections to the U16 and U19 Olympic Development Select and Futures Elite teams square off in competitions in The Netherlands and Argentina.

Athletes from the Olympic Developmental Select/Futures Elite U16 team will compete in the annual International Easter Tournament, April 15-16 in Valkenswaard, while the U19 Olympic Developmental Select team will play a series of games against Argentina club teams in Buenos Aires.

Continuing an annual Easter Tradition, the Under-16 U.S. team has competed in the tournament since 1999 and captured third place finishes in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003. The team placed 4th in 2006.

Members of the U16 team include Samantha Billy (Bridgewater, N.J.), Megan Bosland (Boonton, N.J.), Michelle Cesan (New Vernon, N.J.), Kerrie Edmonds (Emmaus, Pa.), Maxine Fluharty (Millsboro, Del.), Brittany Grzywacz (Collegeville, Pa.), Kelsey Kolojejchick (Larksville, Pa.), Adelle Lever (Blue Bell, Pa.), Kelsey Lloyd (Shavertow, Pa.), Marta Malmberg (Marathon, N.Y.), Ali McEvoy (Gilbertsville,
Pa.), Kathryn Mitchell (Allentown, Pa.), Molly Murphy (Phoenixville, Pa.), Tara Puffenberger (Dallas, Pa.), Taylor Rhea (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Tayler Siegrist (Bridgewater, N.J.)

The team is coached by Michigan State Univ. head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof with Providence College head coach and 1996 Olympian Diane Madl serving as assistant coach.

In addition to the U.S. Futures team, the tournament for U16 teams features squads from Belgium, England, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania and host Netherlands.

While the U16 team travels to Valkenswaard, USA Field Hockey’s U19 Olympic Development Select team will compete in a five-game series against various local club teams in Buenos Aires.

Coached by Univ. of California-Berkeley head coach Shellie Onstead and assisted by Univ. of Maryland assistant coach Tjerk van Herwaarden, the U10 team features Jessica Allen (Gibbsboro, N.J.), Kelsey Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa.), Hollis Barber (Ottawa Hills, Ohio), Devon Burnley (Lancaster, Pa.), Elizabeth Casella (Rutland, Vt.), Hailey Chadourne (Pittston, Maine), Camille Dagorn (Lehighton, Pa.), Michelle Edmonds (Emmaus, Pa.), Jacklyn Gaudioso-Radvany (Lawrenceville, N.J.), Erin Jennings (Macungie, Pa.), Rachel Jennings (Macungie, Pa.), Tara Jennings (Macungie, Pa.), Victoria Lindsey (Audubon, Pa.), Jessica Roberts (E. Bridgewater, Mass.), Jacqueline Trait (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Alesha Widdall (Whitney Point, N.Y.).

Olympic Development Select and Futures Elite athletes represent the top athletes in USA Field Hockey’s 4800-member Futures Programs. Selected each year at the National Futures Championship, Olympic Development Select and Futures Elite athletes are eligible to participate in a variety of voluntary tour and tournament options designed to strengthen their knowledge of the game while implementing skills and tactics used by the USA National Team.
