Seidemann wins first Equestrian medal

The U.S. Paralympic Equestrian squad earned its first medal at 2004 Paralympic Games with a second-place finish in the Individual Freestyle contest by Grade I ride Lynn Seidemann (Coppell, Texas).  Seidemann, riding on Phoenix B, a 15-year-old warmblood gelding, scored 76.063 for the silver medal, marking the first Paralympic Games equestrian medal of her career.

Also competing for the U.S. squad in Grade I was Keith Newerla (Seaford, N.Y.). Newerla, riding Lumberjack, finished with a socre of 58.688 for 14th place.

Barbara Grassmyer (Placerville, Calif.) rode in the Grade III Freestyle test later in the day and came up with an 11th-place finish. Grassmyer and her mount, Mibis, put together a great ride, scoring 68.444 points.
