ARCHERY: Ongoing Resident Team Training (19 participants) - Daily training and instruction for resident archery squad - Participants include three-time Olympian Khatuna Lorig and 2000 Olympian Karen Scavotto Junior Dream Team Camp, November 13-20 (30 participants) - Development camp for junior archers
ATHLETICS: Ongoing Resident Team Training (28 participants) - Long-term training program for track and field athletes - Participants include 2004 Olympians Toby Stevenson, Tim Mack, Ian Waltz, Jarred Rome, Monique Henderson, Stacy Dragila, Jamie Nieto and Tora Harris
CANOE/KAYAK: Sprint Resident Program (18 participants) - Long-term training program for sprint kayak athletes - Participants include 2004 Olympians Carrie Johnson, Jeff Smoke and Rami Zur National Junior Discipline Camp , November 29-December 4 (14 participants) - Assessment camp for junior kayakers as coaches determine crews for Junior National Team
CYCLING: Level 2 Certification Clinic, November 1-4 (28 participants) - Education and certification for cycling coaches and officials
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS: Senegal Kayak Program, January 30-December 31 (1 participant) - Long-term international training program for Assane Fall, sprint kayak athlete from Senegal Hong Kong Track and Field Program, April 1-December 31 (1 participant) - Long-term international training program for Tank Yik Chun, a sprinter from Hong Kong Canada and Sweden Men’s K-1 Training, October 24-December 2 (2 participants) - Warm-weather training for Canada’s Adam Van Koeverden, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist in Men’s K-1 500m Kayak and Sweden’s Anders Gustafsson, 2000 and 2004 Olympian
PARALYMPIC SPORTS: Track and Field Resident Team Training (15 participants) - Long-term training program for Paralympic track and field athletes - Participants include 2004 Paralympians Marlon Shirley, April Holmes, Jeff Skiba, Nelacey Porter, Royal Mitchell and Casey Tibbs Cycling Team Training Camp, November 30-December 9 (24 participants) - Team training camp in preparation for upcoming competitions, including the 2008 Paralympic Games
ROWING: Men’s and Women’s Sweep/Scull Camp, November 4-April 1 (71 participants) - Warm-weather winter training for men’s and women’s U.S. Rowing teams
SOFTBALL: Women’s Olympic Team Training, November 5-13 (30 participants) - Regular training for U.S. Women’s Softball squad as they prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing
SPECIAL EVENTS: Chula Vista Annual Beautification Dinner, November 5 (200 participants) - Recognition of homeowners and businesses in Chula Vista for efforts in beautifying the region Team California, November 8 (35 participants) - Quarterly meeting for Team California, a membership-based corporation that brings together government agencies and regional economic development organizations Intergenerational Games, November 14 (300 participants) - Day-long activity for youth and active older adults, designed to bring young and old together to promote healthy, active lifestyles
UPCOMING COMMUNITY APPEARANCES: - Track & Field Athletes Alice Schmidt, Akiba McKinney and Simi Adeagbo will speak to Girl Scouts group at “Free to Be Me’ Event on Saturday, November 3. Time: 10AM; Location: 1231 Upas Street, San Diego 92103 - Various Olympic Hopefuls will speak to Chula Vista Elementary Schools taking part in the Exercise the Dream program at the Olympic Training Center. Dates: November 6, 7, 20, 21, and 28. - Mike Hazle (Track & Field) will speak at the Chula Vista Intergenerational Games on November 14. Time and Location: 10AM at the Olympic Training Center - Track & Field Athlete (TBD) will speak at the East County Intergenerational Games on November 28 at 9:30AM.
